Wardrobe Essentials for Fall

Today I’m going to be sharing what I think are essentials for your wardrobe as the colder weather approaches!

I am a huge fan of buying basic things that can be layered and worn in many different ways! And fall fashion is all about layering… and staying warm!

Neutral Scarves

Literally go out and buy a comfortable scarf in black, cream/tan, and grey, and you’ve got just about 158 outfit options. You can throw them over sweaters, dresses, with your coat; seriously the possibilities are endless! Having neutral scarves in your wardrobe will give you the ability to wear them over and over again! So next time you’re in the accessories section at Target and see a really cute floral scarf with tassels, think about how many times you’re actually going to wear that.

Buy the scarves here!

buuuuut if you’re feeling a little more festive, a plaid blanket scarf is the perfect accessory to add to your fall wardrobe as well.

Plaid Blanket Scarves

Believe it or not, Plaid Blanket scarves actually go with an abundance of outfits! You may think “Oh I’m wearing all black and adding this scarf will look silly…but I’m cold..” WELL GIRL, THROW IT ON! You will look like a million bucks. Like straight outta NYFW. Trust me. You can wear them just about 31 different ways, like as an infinity scarf, as a shawl, so yay for versatility!

Also, my green and navy one is from the Target Dollar Spot and it was $7, they do NOT need to break the bank.

Little Booties are ESSENTIAL

I literally am obsessed with booties, whether they’re flat and casual, or have a heel and some fringe detail, I am all about them. You don’t see a lot of high boots on the market these days like those horseback riding ones we all used to wear or the ever-so-popular combat boot, and I think there’s a reason for that.

Booties are SO in! They will instantly become your go to shoe for fall!

Basic T-Shirt Dresses

Casual cotton dresses are a MUST HAVE!! They’re comfortable yet cute, and can be styled a hundred different ways! They’re perfect for when it’s not too cold yet and your legs can still be out, so ya throw on some heeled booties, a jean jacket or flannel around you waist, and go!

But when it gets colder, throw on a thick and cozy cardigan, a scarf, tights or leggings, socks and boots, and girl, you’ve got yourself a warm outfit that would be complete with a PSL. (psst.. that’s a pumpkin spice latte if my lingo is just too hip for you ;))

They are the perfect layering essential and you need one in every color in your life.

These guys pretty much speak for themselves, but sticking to my theme of layering and versatility, flannels are the perfect layering piece and make any outfit that much cuter.

Tie it around your waist with a t-shirt, a long sleeve T, a sweater, a T-shirt dress, literally anything, and then once you get cold or the sun goes down, BAM! Girl, you’ve got yourself a built-in jacket! Yay!!!

My personal fav flannels are ones that are more black or grey based so that they go with a lot, but reds and blues do too as well.

Nothing screams fall quite like a flannel.

Purchase the purple plaid top here!

And last but certainly not least…

Solid, Neutral Sweaters

My favorite things to wear in life are sweaters, and that may have a lot to do with the fact that I’m always cold…

But seriously, who doesn’t love a good staple sweater? Purchase mine here!

You can never go wrong with a classic grey sweater and some jeans and booties, plus a little shoulder cut out never killed nobody 😉

Depending on how you style your sweater, I believe you can come up with at least 5 different looks for each sweater you own!

So instead of buying that fuzzy cat sweater that meows at Forever 21 because you thought it was cute in the store, try going for more neutrals and solids; like a nice, solid black, tan, cream, or grey sweater, that can be worn multiple different ways. Plus, it’ll be a lot easier to rewear it within the same week if you just change your jeans and hair, shh… no one has to know..

These are just a few of the pieces that I believe are essential to your wardrobe for Fall!

It’s all about neutrals, layering, and versatility!

Until next time,

<3 Claire
