Make it Work for You, Girl

Hey girl!

Let’s just cut to the chase.

Have you ever been shopping, when suddenly you come across the cutest piece on the sale rack, with a “final sale” tag on it, and you think, “Oh this is so cute! It’ll work for me!” And your friends says, “You should try it on!” And you say, “No it’s okay, looks like it’ll work!”

Just me?

Well.

I find myself here more times than not, you’d think I’d learn. But I just don’t have the patience for try on rooms, and I can’t pass up a good sale! You know what I’m saying!

Well that just happened to me a few weeks ago, and let’s just say I added to the pile of “can’t take these back, should’ve listened to Grace!”

Exhibit A.

If you wanna watch the video, it’s HERE!

Dry Goods is the cutest, but I typically only shop the sale rack, cause as you may know I’m not made of money! Well, Dry Goods was one of our last stops, I saw the gingham, and I was sold.

I didn’t wanna try it on for multiple reasons, one of them being I was shoppinged-out (not a word?), two try-on rooms are a hassle, and three it was so cheap like might as well try it, right? Wrong.

My friends Grace did convince me to slip it on over my outfit in the middle of the store, so I did. And by the way, everything looks good over jeans and a sweater, lemme tell you.

From the front, the romper looked fine! And with jeans on, it was hard to see where my behind stopped and my leg began, so I was like, “Yeah, sure it fits!!” *purchase*

I take it home, leave it in the bag for a few days cause that’s my life, bring it out the next week to film that haul^ video. BAM. Too short. Too low. Hate it.

CRAP.

I looove gingham, and I had always had my eye on this romper in Dry Goods! I loved the floral print + the gingham, and the colors were gorgeous! But it just didn’t work for me, girl.

So here I am, left with a romper I can’t wear out because I don’t feel comfortable in it, and I can’t take it back either because it was final sale!

Wonderful.

Then, it hit me.

I slipped on the romper, added a white tee, and looked at myself in the mirror. Cute, but still needed something. I wasn’t about to show the world my cheeks. Then I remembered, girl, I have my FAVE SKIRT!

Threw it on and voilé!

Obsessed.

This skirt by ASOS, is one of my favorite items in my closet. It is so easy to pair with literally anything, even a romper!

So what am I trying to say here?

Try things on? Maybe.

Don’t just buy things because they’re on sale? Probably.

Listen to your bff? I guess.

But what I actually want you to know is: do something unconventional. Make it work for you, girl!

Wear a dress with skinny jeans. Wear a ribbed turtleneck under a dress. Wear a t-shirt under a dress. Wear a t-shirt OVER a dress. Wear a skirt with a romper.. you see where I’m going with this. I ended up liking the “romper” SO much better this way!

I loved the print of this romper SO much, so I wasn’t about to sell it or give it away, so I am so glad this outfit came together!!! And I got so many compliments on it too!
