Back to the Basics | Amour Vert

Hey Girl!

Happy almost weekend!

Today, let’s talk basics.

Every girl needs a few good basic tees, tanks, tops, for layering, for wearing in every season, and for just throwin’ on when you’ve got 5 minutes to get ready.

And let’s face it, not all basics are created equally. Actually most of the time, they’re not made in the best way possible. The Amour Vert is seeking to change that. When  Amour Vert reached out to me about joining in on their #ImpossiblySoftTee campaign, I was down.

SHOP the #ImpossiblySoftTees HERE!

Processed with VSCO with a4 presetProcessed with VSCO with a4 presetProcessed with VSCO with a4 preset

Your girl loves her basic tees. But they have to be made right, and well. Sure you can spend $4 on a F21 tee, or $9 on a Target tee, and by year 2, it’s stretched out, shorter than it was when you bought it, and probably has a few tears on the seems. No thank you.

I want one where I know I can throw it on time and time again without fear of it breaking, stretching, or looking different than it did the day I bought it.

“Amour Vert’s specially engineered textiles and blended fabrics are crafted to be soft, flattering and long-lasting. We only use low-impact dyes and adopt a zero-waste philosophy.”

I am so excited to be apart of this campaign, and my tee is PERFECT.  And they aren’t kidding when they say impossibly soft! 🙂 It’s so effortlessly beautiful, and I’m obsessed. You can purchase it HERE! I will absolutely be wearing tis tee time and time again, and you probably will be too! 😉

Winter Midi | The Girls in Grey

Happy Monday!

‘Bout done with this cold and snow, anyone else? I did manage to take advantage of it for a split second (and I mean split. second.) to freeze my booty off (literally) for these pics. You’re welcome.

I wore this dress to church this weekend, and I was totally in love. The length of it is AMAZING for those of us who like a little more length to our fabrics. Lol. What I meant to say was… it’s actually perfect for work, church, and anything else in between, plus I’m able to lead worship in it at my church! Obsessed.

This beauty is from The Girls in Grey! If you don’t know, The Girls in Grey is an Instagram based boutique, with the CUTEST clothing. I actually model for them as well too! I’m kind of a big fan! 🙂

I LOVE literally everything The Girls in Grey carries!! From the softest jeans, the coziest sweaters, to the perfect blouses, and trendy dresses; They literally have it all.

Now let’s talk about this “cutest dress ever.”

Processed with VSCO with a4 presetProcessed with VSCO with a4 preset

Midi dresses are MY JAM. I know, I know… I’m petite, my legs aren’t long, and midi + petite typically don’t mix. But girl, who told you that? I’ve decided there are no rules in fashion or makeup, so do what you want. So since that’s the case for me, MIDI DRESSES WILL CONTINUE TO BE MY JAM.

I personally think the shape of this dress is super flattering, and I love that it’s long-sleeved! The material is amazing quality, and it’s not thin whatsoever!

Plus, I’m a huge lover of black & white, and this pattern is so fun and so me.

Not to mention, IT HAS POCKETS… As if you needed another reason to buy this dress!

Processed with VSCO with a4 preset

This dress can obviously be worn now in Winter with leggings/tights (or nothing at all like the crazy person that I am) with boots & a jacket. Or, it could definitely be worn into Spring with flats, mules, even sandals, with a little sleeve-rolling-up action.

You can purchase this dress HERE!! I’m wearing a small! (I’m 5’1 for reference!) In order to purchase from The Girls in Grey, simply sign up through the link in their bio, comment “SOLD + your size” on an item you want to buy, and the invoice will be sent directly to your email! Then enter code: CLAIRE10 for 10% off! ❤

My leather jacket is from TJ Maxx, but I’ve linked a similar one HERE!

My booties are last season ASOS, but I’ve linked a similar pair HERE!

And my hat is from 100 years ago, so a similar one is linked HERE!

New favorite dress? I think yes.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Fun Florals | Posey and Pence

Hey beautiful!
Currently, I’m in Gatlinburg, TN, for a short getaway before we head back to the real world! It’s been almost 80 degrees here and nothing but sunshine! I just can’t wait for the weather to get warm and stay warm!

Crossing my fingers I don’t go home to a blizzard in Indiana.

Spring and Summer are def my favorite seasons, mainly because I hate to be cold.

One of my favorite things about warmer weather is FLORAL PRINTS, BABY! Floral prints, fresh flowers, bright colors everywhere, the warm sun, these are a few of my favorite things.

Speaking of florals, is this dress not absolutely stunning? And the colors are so fun & vibrant. Hello, spring!

I’ve actually teamed up with Posey and Pence to bring you this stunning dress! And a coupon code! (But we’ll get to that part in a minute!)
Now back to the dress, I’m actually obsessed with the colors in this dress. Peachy/coral + soft blues = I’m dead.

I’m in love with the length too! I’m loving this new trend of making dresses that aren’t too short for you to accidentally breathe in and expose something! The midi dress has quickly become one of my favorite styles!

I also love how it’s long sleeved, because you never know what the weather is going to be like in the Spring time, and you especially don’t if you live in Indiana!

I paired this little dress with my classic, go-to tan wedges and a coordinating tan crossbody! I let the dress do all the talking 🙂

Now to the post important part…

THE DRESS HAS POCKETS!!!!!!

Of course I had to match my lip color to the dress, and I used the Too Faced Melted Matte in the shade Mrs. Roper! ❤️

Posey and Pence has some of the cutest stuff!

“At Posey and Pence we try our hardest to bring you unique high quality items that you can afford! We don’t sell anything we wouldnt wear and we try to make sure all of our items are modest.” I LOVE that!!! Not having to worry about what’s falling out or what you need to pull up, down, or over is such a plus!

They were so sweet to work with too!

They were kind enough to give you guys a coupon code! Use the code: CLAIRE20 at checkout for 20% off your purchase! 😘❤️

Thank you, Posey and Pence! 🙂

My Go-To Makeup Products!

Hello friends!

I am back with another post, and this one is all about my 1st love…. makeup!

I’m going to be sharing with you the products that are my go-to’s; I reach for them almost everyday, and they’ve never done me wrong! All items are linked; just click on a product!

Some of these products are considered “high end” but most are actually drugstore and they’re pretty freakin’ amazing products! The majority of my $$ goes into my pro-kit for clients, so I end up not spending a ton on makeup for myself, and in doing so, I’ve found some pretty great drugstore products!!

If I had to choose 1 out of each makeup item ex. foundation, concealer, bronzer, etc., these would be them:

Moisturizer for under makeup & primer

Yes that primer on the right has seen a lot of love, don’t judge.

I have recently discovered the Hello Fab line by First Aid Beauty and it’s amazing! It’s a little confusing given the name of this product, the Coconut Skin Smoothie Primer Moisturizer, buuuut I love it at as a moisturizer, which I use under my primer. It’s very hydrating and gives my skin a healthy glow!

I know what you’re thinking, you can only choose 1 primer, but I technically am, I use 1 for 1 area/problem, 1 for the other.

The Makeup Forever Step 1 Equalizer Primers are phenomenal! I use the smoothing one on my large pores on my cheeks and the hydrating one basically everywhere else, because if you couldn’t tell by now, I have extremely dry skin!

Foundation

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Maybelline Dream CushionUm, this stuff rocks! I have never tried a cushion foundation until this guy, and I can’t put it down! I am in LOVE with the natural, slightly dewy finish you get when using this product! It seriously looks like your skin but better, it’s so natural and beautiful! Totally not full coverage, but in my opinion, it’s the perfect amount of coverage! It’s completely breathable and buildable, plus it’s travel friendly!

Concealer

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Tarte Shape TapeWell duh. This is the 1st concealer I have ever found that actually covers my hereditary dark circles. And honey, they’re dark. But this stuff is INCREDIBLE! A little goes a very long way, and it is so full coverage. It’s very creamy and a tiny bit on the thick side, so your best bet is to set it before it starts to crease and grab onto your lines; if you do that, you’re golden! I can’t say enough good things about this concealer, everyone and their mom needs to try it!!

Contour

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Nothing will ever replace the Anastasia of Beverly Hills Contour Kit for me, and that’s all I have to say.

Bronzer

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer is beautiful. I just recently picked this up, and I cannot put it down. Not to mention, every time you open it up it smells like you’re on vacation. It’s the prettiest shade of bronze, with a slight sheen throughout. It’s totally buildable and is super easy to blend!! The only down side; I got the darker of the 2 shade options, and if you’re any tanner than I am (when I’m fake tanned) you might have a hard time getting it to show up! Pic below for skin tone reference.

FullSizeRender 57.jpg

p.s. This little dress is from J&J Petite Boutique; I’m wearing a size medium!

Blush

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Literally every single day I use one of the 3 blush shades in this Becca Cosmetics palette in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill. If I’m not choosing 1, I’m mixing all 3! I just  love Becca blushes! Another one I use constantly is the shade Nightingale; a gorgeous, rich berry shade!

Highlight

An oldie, but a goodie. The Mary Lou Manizer the Luminizer by theBalm has been my go-to since day 1 and probably always will be. I love how versatile the shade is, it goes with every makeup look: it’s not too gold, too pink, too cool toned; it’s perfect! So smooth too, not chunky or glittery whatsoever!!

But if I’m going the liquid highlight route, I will always choose the Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop

Eyebrows

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

These are my 2 fav products for my brows. I know what you’re thinking, I’m breaking the rules again, buuuut if I had to choose 1 brow pencil it would be the Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Definer and if I could only choose 1 brow gel it would be the Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber VolumizerThis combo is to die for. I like the brow definer better than the brow wiz from ABH, I feel like it gets the job done in half the time, with even better results!

Eyeshadow Palette

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

If I was stranded on a deserted island tomorrow with only 1 palette to my name, I would hope and pray it was this one! The Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist PRO Eyeshadow Palette is beautiful. The amount of makeup looks you can create with this single palette is incredible. Plus they’re super blendable, pigmented, and there’s little to no fallout. Plus you get 4 duo chrome/foiled shades as well! SO worth the price!

Mascara

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I legit will only ever buy 1 mascara from the drugstore and that’s the Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black.

Setting Spray/Face Mist

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I will not leave the house without dousing my face in these 2 sprays.

The Mac Fix+ is not a setting spray. I repeat, it’s not a setting spray. It is a mineral water designed to bring life back to the skin by taking away some of that powdery look of all your face powders. It can also be used to intensify highlighters, foiled shadows, etc., by wetting your brush and then applying them. I use the Fix+ first and then I set my face with my new First Aid Beauty Hello Fab Vital Greens Face MistThis stuff adds another layer of hydration to my skin (like I’ve said I have super dry skin) while also setting the makeup as well. It’s made up of many great ingredients for your skin, but the only downside to that is the smell. Kinda smells like you’re spraying liquid salad on your face, but it’s fine. lol

I obviously left out lipstick, cause honey I change that up like I change my hair color; which wouldn’t seem like that many changes to the average person, but I, on the other hand, change my hair color quite frequently. lol

And 1 of my fav brush lines is Mikasa Beauty Brushes! Plus you can use my code: CLAIRERENEMUA15 for 15% off your total purchase! 🙂

These are just the products I gravitate towards on a daily basis, and the products that I just can’t put down. ❤

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

valentines-day-4

Hello! 🙂

Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it, does your special someone know what you’d love to receive? I know there’s a bunch of crap spoken about Valentine’s Day, and how “Oh, it’s so stupid how there’s a day to celebrate love!” “Shouldn’t you always show your partner love and make them feel special?”

While, yes you should always celebrate love & yes, you should always try to make them feel special, I’ll be the first to say that not everyday is rainbows and butterflies, and I can guarantee you you and your significant other do not always show an immense love for one another 24/7, taking them nice places every day (which would be ridiculous), spoiling them with nice little gifts, and celebrating your love. Some days are hard. Life gets in the way. Things come up. & Yes, while you still love them with all your heart and they love you just the same, it’s nice to take some time to celebrate that love and express your appreciation and gratitude, letting them know how much they mean to you, by doing a little extra!

SO if you think Valentine’s Day is stupid, go ahead and click out of this blog post. But, if you think all things Valentine’s Day are just the cutest, you love themed gifts, you love gift giving, and you believe  in celebrating your love and going over the top for the one you love, then this is the post for you!

So if you’re anything like me (or your girl is anything like me) you love the simplest things! You don’t have to spend a lot to make your girl smile!

LUSH Bath Bombs & Bubble Bars

Lush bath bombs and bubble bars are the easiest and cutest way to bring a smile to your lady’s face! AND they’re SO inexpensive! They start as low as $5.25 and typically do not exceed $10! Lush also creates gift boxes, gift wrapped and ready to go, with many different products inside!

Starbucks Coffee Travel Cups & Mugs

Okay, hello, cutest cups ever! The new Starbucks Valentine’s Day themed drink-ware is absolutely adorable! If she’s a coffee lover, she can never have too many mugs! 😉 A super cute gift idea is to create a gift that’s completely finished and put together, like a mug + a box of her favorite k-cup coffee + cute stir sticks + even a bottle of flavored syrup for coffee/lattes!

Personal Book/Photobook

These are my FAVORITE kind of gifts! I adore my “What I Love About You” book my man got me a few years ago! Francesca’s has many different book options and they’re all adorable! All you do is fill it out and make it personal, filling in different memories, inside jokes, and things that are only true for the 2 of you!

Another thing I am loving is the website: www.shutterfly.com! I’ve been using Shutterfly for a few years and they have never disappointed! They have an enormous amount of gifts/books/mugs that you can personalize and they make the most perfect gifts!

Polaroid Camera

71ugbf3isul-_sl1500_

If you’re looking to spend a little more money, this Raspberry Polaroid is absolutely beautiful & so fun! If she doesn’t have one, she will love it! It’s kinda like the thing you never knew you wanted! It makes the smallest things much more exciting when you have a cool way of documenting it! PLUS it’s amazing to have for vacation/trips!

Watches

I have found a new love for watches! They add so much to your look and they’re helpful! This adorable Valentine’s themed watch is from Charming Charlie’s and it’s only $16!!! AMAZING!

If you’re looking to spend a little more money on a little nicer watch, I’ve stumbled across the coolest brand! I ordered my boyfriend a watch from TreeHut a couple of weeks ago and it’s quickly become his favorite gift! The sweetest thing about the company is you can engrave a personal message on the back! Right now they’re having a Valentine’s special as well! The watches are made from 100% real wood! They’re incredibly nice! They also sell couples watches where you can buy 2 together!

Jewelry/Change Trays

I also just recently found this company, Frou Frou & Frill! These are the sweetest little gifts! Plus you can either  personalize one ex. adding a name or just change the colors of an item to fit what you’re wanting! Obsessed! You could change the color of the heart on the one on the right, so it’s more manly, and he can use it as a change holder, a place to keep his wallet, his keys, little things that float around in his pockets!

Too Face x Kat Von D Better Together Ultimate Eye Collection

s1892421-main-lhero

You’ve probably been thinking, “Claire, it’s so unlike you to not include makeup!” Oh honey, don’t worry it’s here now. Just take this whole palette in real quick. How fun is this? This is the first time that 2 brands have come together to collaborate on 1 product! So exciting! If your girl is girly, loves makeup, loves themed gifts, and you, then she will DIE when you give her this! It’s actually the cutest!

Fragrances

I think you can never go wrong with perfume & cologne! These are just a few very popular scents for him & her! My go-to is Versace Bright Crystal and man, does it smell AMAZING!! ❤

Home Decor

Of course, I had to mention Target! To me, Target always has the cutest holiday decor! I think a perfect gift is one that can be used over and over! And nothing is more perfect than cutesy Valentine’s Day themed pillows & home decor, for an affordable price!

I hope this helped and you got some ideas! Feel free to share this, so that someone in your life can get some ideas as well 😉

Happy Early Valentine’s Day! ❤

Happy Halloween ~

Hello lovelies and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I love Halloween, and I know what you’re thinking, “Oh my gosh Halloween is SO scary! SO dark! SO bad! You shouldn’t celebrate such a dark holiday!”

Well 1st off, it doesn’t have to be dark or scary. It’s fun and playful, and full of fun little themed crafts, snacks, desserts, and even decorations.

love to bake, decorate, and play dress up, so OF COURSE I’m gonna LOVE Halloween.

And the best part is ALL OF THE MAKEUP!! It’s literally a day where crazy makeup is not only accepted, but expected! It’s basically a holiday made for people like me.

I spend all month coming up with fun Halloween makeup looks and learning new techniques. And the best part about Halloween is it is just makeup. Or a mask. Or just a costume, it all comes off at the end of the day and that’s what makes it so fun!

Of course, Halloween can be dark and bad, and there are crazy people in the world, so stay safe, but it doesn’t have to be looked at as something so negative. It’s simply fun and full of MAKEUP!!!

Speaking of makeup, I recently was apart of a stylized collaborative shoot with some pretty awesome people! Oh and did I mention, it was for Halloween? How fun!

I got to work my magic (Makeup by Claire René) alongside some crazy talented people: the ever-so-cute Arianna Torres of Arianna Maria Photography; the wickedly talented Belinda Benham of Hair by Belinda; and two stunning models: Quinn Geiger and Bailey Smith.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

We wanted to capture the models’ beauty while still rocking a Halloween look that was to DIE for!

We put our heads together and  came up with a Medusa inspired look and an edgy, minimalist take on a classic skull.

Our inspirations for the makeup looks were from two widely known, talented YouTube stars & Beauty Gurus: Shaaanxo & Chrisspy Makeup.

As you can see, we stayed more true to Chrisspy’s skull, and basically just took the idea of Shaaanxo’s Medusa look and ran with it.

I decided to go a little more heavy on the eyes of Medusa and incorporate more gold, by adding a KAPOW gold lip!

And can we take a second to appreciate the HAIR!?! Hair Stylist Belinda KILLED this hair! We drew our inspiration from the snake-like crown Medusa wears, and decided to take full advantage of Model Bailey’s GORGEOUS hair and create snake-like loops using her hair instead of a plastic costume piece, to keep it more authentic! Dead.

Speaking of dead, Model Quinn makes a STUNNING skull. Who knew dead could look so good?

She has the most gorgeous eye color which only adds to the beauty of her look!

LOOK AT THIS HAIR.

img_6228
Model: Quinn Geiger

Does her hair not scream all things Halloween?! I’m crying. Hair Stylist Belinda nailed it with this one. She created a braided crown type of look by pulling all her hair up into 2 braids on either side and placing them on the top of her head, added a gray flower crown, and then topped it all off with some spider webs and plastic spiders. STUNNING.

Arianna Marie Torres is an AMAZING photographer. LOOK at these photos. I’ve never seen anything like her work and that’s what makes her SO great. Being a photographer isn’t just about knowing how to work a camera, knowing how to take photos in focus, or even knowing how to use Photoshop, it’s about staying true to yourself, finding your style, and creating art like no other. You’ll never be successful by just doing what everyone else is doing. And that’s true in all things.

I am so blessed to have been apart of such an amazing shoot and to have worked with such talented people! Dream team. For real.

I hope you love these SPOOKY makeup looks and these stunning photos as much as I do. I could not be more proud of the outcome.

So have a Happy Halloween, cause it can just be a happy thing; put on that costume, do your hair up, apply that awesome makeup, and bake those cookies & live a little!

Happy Halloween!

Back to School Fashion

Hello & welcome back!

I can’t believe today is August 1st. August means a lot of things: it means the State Fair, it means we’re one step closer to fall, it means back to school for most, but to me it means “birthday month” 😉

Speaking of back to school, today we’re gonna talk about back to school fashion that’s appropriate, affordable, and most importantly, completely adorable ❤

I know most schools have dress codes, and if you’re in high school my advice is stop complaining about it & follow it, it’s 4 years of no spaghetti straps, I think you’ll survive.

Most small christian colleges/universities have them too but they aren’t very strict & you can still look trendy & cute! Just bear your dress codes in mind when back-to-school shopping and adjust my outfit ideas to your personal needs 🙂

So we all know that August is pretty dang hot and the idea of wearing jeans isn’t everyone’s favorite, but I think if you wear a wide-strap tank with a breathable flowy material, some sandals, and jeans you’ll be plenty cool for those unbearably hot August school days.

My new favorite casual top is the Annie top from J&J Petite Boutique, (it also comes in grey) and it’s perfect for school. It’s long and modest, yet cute and comfy. Plus it’s a tank top, perfect for this month, but also will be perfect to layer with for the colder fall months. Also, If your school allows leggings, it makes the perfect tunic paired with leggings.

I’ve added a traditional black tank underneath because the sides are cut low, but you could also wear a cutesy black bralette if you weren’t wearing it to school.

I know my high school was weird about ripped jeans, so if that’s the case you can pair this adorable top with our Callie Dark Grey Soft Jeans. Grey jeans

My jeans are just plain ole black ones from Forever 21 that I actually slit myself. My open-toe booties are from Old Navy, and they’re so comfortable and are a great transition shoe from summer to fall; regular short black booties would look super cute too! But if you aren’t feeling booties quite yet, any black sandal would work as well.

My hat, a.k.a. old faithful, is from Forever 21, of course, and my super cute backpack is from Urban Outfitters. It’s a little small to work as an actual backpack, which is why it’s just my purse, but it’d be perfect for holding your phone, wallet, pens & pencils, your planner, and anything else you’d need throughout the day.

I’ve linked some similar black bags from Urban: Black Backpacks

FullSizeRender 46

I’m actually living for the zipper detailing on the back ❤ ❤

A couple more options for back to school from J&J are our Amelia & Jana Tops

We also have some super cute, flattering jeans, like these Holly-Potter Jeans for only $55.

So remember, just because you’re going back to school, it doesn’t mean you can’t dress cute. And dressing cute should never not be comfortable, and it IS possible to be both modest & cute at the same time. So find the best of both worlds at JJPetite.com. ❤

“Modesty isn’t about covering up our bodies because they’re bad, modesty isn’t about hiding ourselves… it’s about revealing our dignity.” -Jessica Rey

Until next time,
